LUNCHEON TO HONOR FOSTER PARENTS

DANBURY, CT, APRIL 20, 2006: Family & Children’s Aid, Inc. (FCA) and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) will host a luncheon honoring foster parents on Thursday, May 11, 2006.

“These parents help fulfill FCA’s mission of ‘For Every Child, a Home’,” said Irvin R. Jennings, M.D. Executive and Medical Director of FCA. “Our goal is for all of Connecticut’s children to be safe in loving homes.”

The luncheon for foster parents licensed through FCA’s Treatment Foster Care program and DCF’s Office of Foster Care and Adoption Services will take place at noon at Chuck’s Steak House in Danbury. Danbury Mayor, the Honorable Mark Boughton, will be on hand to issue a proclamation announcing May as foster parent appreciation month.

For over two hundred years, FCA has been providing a variety of services to children and their families. More and more children have been exposed to the devastating effects of abuse, neglect, family break up, poverty, drugs and other traumas. At the same time, the system of support and caring has been greatly eroded leaving the children with few places to turn.

FCA currently operates five neighborhood-style group home programs serving Connecticut’s neediest children. In addition, they offer 15 outpatient programs, including the Treatment Foster Care Program, plus a camp for the children in their homes.
